Mike is a Director of Strategy located in Egg’s Chicago office and joined the firm in 2008. A self-professed “pinball wizard” of the consumer marketing world, he’s tilted the tables on both the consulting and client side over the course of his career.
He began his career in PR before following a passion for live music and joining Ticketmaster to create promotional partnerships for some of the biggest entertainment brands in the world. The pendulum swung away from rock n’ roll for Mike with a subsequent five year stint doing health club marketing for Bally Total Fitness, and then back to a very energetic middle ground as Director of Field Marketing for Red Bull Energy Drink, managing all consumer-marketing initiatives for the brand’s Midwest launch.
Experiencing the power of the entrepreneurial spirit at Red Bull inspired him to co-found Bamboo, an innovation services and experiential marketing consultancy. While there, Mike led a variety of positioning and new product development projects with clients such as Jiffy Lube, Wrigley, Unilever and SC Johnson. Most recently, he was a VP Planning Director for Leo Burnett, helping to craft corporate responsibility strategy and messaging for the agency’s biggest client, Philip Morris.
Somewhere in between all that, Mike also re-learned geometry in order to complete his M.B.A. in Marketing from DePaul University.
